Ships from Canada — no duties, no surprise fees, just good vibes.
There was a time when exploring Canada was an actual job.
You packed a camera, a field notebook and whatever fit in the truck, drove until the road ran out, and spent the day documenting what was already there.
Prairie Record portrays a spring field survey in the Southern Alberta Foothills in 1972 — a Plains Bison resting among Prairie Crocuses, with the Rockies still holding onto the last of the winter snow.
No GPS. No digital camera. No uploading it somewhere afterward. Just Kodachrome, handwritten notes, coordinates and someone paying close enough attention to decide this moment was worth recording.
There’s something beautifully Canadian about that.
A country that still felt enormous. Wild places that hadn’t been completely mapped, marketed and optimized. And people whose job, sometimes, was simply to go out there and look.
To count. To photograph. To make notes. To bring back evidence of a beautiful world.
Maybe that’s the part worth remembering.
The innocence of believing there would always be another spring. Another field of crocuses pushing through the cold ground. Another enormous animal standing quietly beneath the mountains.
And that this beautiful planet wasn’t something we owned.
It was something we were lucky enough to witness.
